Heavy Duty Fitters – Port Hedland, Karratha and Pilbara WA

We are currently seeking experienced heavy-duty diesel fitters to join our workshop and field service teams in Port Hedland and Pilbara projects Western Australia. Working on a 2/1 roster, the successful candidates will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in service and repairs of civil and marine plant and equipment and on heavy machinery.
Reporting to the WA maintenance supervisor and project managers, your main duties will include (but not limited to):
- Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs to plant and equipment,
- Assist in ordering replacement equipment, parts, and supplies,
- Physically inspect and sign for delivered goods and materials,
- Request orders through the Senior Mechanic or WA Maintenance Superintendent,
- Ensure materials are ordered and sequenced with short lead times,
- Efficiently and securely store materials to minimise double handling and theft,
- Adhere to Austral HSE standard and procedures.
To be considered for the position you must have:
- Trade qualifications for plant maintenance or heavy machinery maintenance,
- A high level of maintenance fitting skills including installation and repairs,
- Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in hydraulic and control systems,
- Very high attention to detail and quality with a safety focused mindset,
- Excellent communication to ensure all processes align with our mission statement and core values,
- In-depth understanding of mechanical diagnosis and repair including drawing interpretation and application,
- Current driver’s license, preferably HR.
