TLO Weighbridge Upgrade

As Head Contractor, Austral Construction delivered the $9.3 million Train Load Out (TLO) Weighbridge Upgrade at Christmas Creek, providing an integrated civil, structural, electrical and mechanical solution to improve the accuracy, reliability and longevity of critical rail weighing infrastructure.

Austral was involved from the Early Contractor Involvement phase, supporting geotechnical investigations and design development before progressing through procurement, fabrication and construction. The works enabled the installation of new Meridian track scales at the TLO in-go and out-go.

Austral removed the existing track scale infrastructure, undertook subgrade improvement and placed cement stabilised sand before installing 20-tonne precast track slabs and apron slabs. The scope also included grouting and connecting the track slabs, replacing degraded pedestals and existing Pandrol plates, and installing a new concrete sump and associated pipework.

Austral also delivered conduits, service pits, communications and control room equipment and the connection of direct and ancillary services to the new Meridian systems, together with handrails, bollards and signage.

By managing the works from early design involvement through to fabrication, multidisciplinary construction and final integration, Austral delivered the infrastructure required to support a more accurate, reliable and durable TLO weighing system.
