In order to facilitate an upgrade to the weighbridge at the Mt Whaleback train loadout facility, additional alterations to the facilities must be made.
Austral was contracted to perform the works needed to facilitate this new weighbridge, including modifications to the existing concrete slab, and drainage infrastructure upgrades for the new washdown system.
The construction of a new sediment pond to as apart of the drainage infrastructure upgrades
Installation of new 300 DIA CSP culverts connecting the weigh bridge draining network to the newly constructed sediment ponds
Fencing around the culvert’s and sediment ponds to improve safety and mitigate wildlife ingress
Slab modifications, using demolition saws and pneumatic jack hammers to locally demolish the concrete slab, so that pipe can be laid under the existing track. New drainage channels were also cut into the concrete to further improve drainage
Rail installation and Pandrol base plate relocation
