The existing pot bearings were found to be degrading with the compressible elastomer supports extruding from the bearing. To maintain a sustainable rail network, Roy Hill required these bearings to be replaced.
Austral was contracted to replace the bridge bearings at the Yule River Bridge, BHP Overpass Bridge and the Coonarie Creek Bridge.
Replacement of 14No. fixed bearings and 14No. guided bearings to the Yule River Bridge.
Replacement of 6No. fixed bearings and 6No. guided bearings to the BHP Overpass Bridge. Existing abutment fixed bearings also required the removal and installation of new baseplates and grouting.
Replacement of 6No. fixed bearings and 6No. guided bearings to the Coonarie Creek Bridge.
