Syncline S10 Dewatering Project

  • As a part of the larger “WTS S10 Hub sustaining Project”, Rio Tinto required a new forward maintenance shed due to the excessive distance that existed between the location of these works and the nearest adequately equipped facility.
  • Austral was contracted to design and construct a facility that would provide a safe and well-equipped location to facilitate minor maintenance of dewatering equipment, parts storage, and ancillaries.
  • Austral engaged the Civil/Structural and Mech/Elec designers and managed the complete design process including interfacing between design disciplines
  • Site investigation conducted during the design process for determining location of buried services and tie-in points
  • Geotechnical investigation conducted to optimise design and limit use of imported fill
  • 30m x 20m building completely fitted out with lighting & power services, potable water tie-in, drainage to existing oily water system, fire detection system shelving and dewatering equipment maintenance workspaces
  • Common services trench to existing site facilities constructed in stages to limit impact on existing site operations
