Flinders Port Berth 6 Sheet Piling
Supporting larger vessels and growing maritime trade, the Berth 6 upgrade strengthened Flinders Port’s capacity to meet future operational demand. Austral Construction delivered the specialist sheet piling works required to establish the new quay line wall, while working alongside an operational wharf.
Austral’s scope included the installation of 104 double sheet piles, together with the transfer and cutting of sheet piles to their designed levels.
The sheet piles were installed using Austral’s Bauer RTG16 piling rig, providing the high crowd forces and torque required to efficiently deliver the works within the challenging marine environment.
With construction undertaken adjacent to an operational wharf, Austral carefully coordinated its piling activities to manage interfaces and minimise disruption to ongoing port operations.
Combining specialist piling expertise, purpose-selected plant and experience working within live port environments, Austral successfully delivered critical wharf infrastructure to support the port’s future operational requirements and growing trade demand.
