The existing ROM bin structures had deteriorated, affecting operational efficiency. The old rock catcher walls and run-on slab no longer met the required standards, leading to potential disruptions in ore processing and increased maintenance costs.
Austral Construction undertook a full-scale upgrade of the ROM bin infrastructure. The project involved demolishing the outdated rock catcher walls and run-on slab, followed by the installation of a new rock catcher wall constructed from modular precast segments. This included precise excavation and conditioning of the site, ensuring proper alignment and stability. A new run-on slab with cast-in rail sections and a steel-faced rear backstop was also constructed, anchored securely to the existing ROM bin structure. Our approach enhanced ore handling efficiency and reinforced safety, ensuring the upgraded infrastructure meets modern standards and operational needs.
