W6 Pit Development
- BHP requested the Diversion of the OHP2 and Herbert’s creek along a new channel to facilitate the larger 5-year mine expansion plan for the Yandi Pit mine.
- Austral was responsible for the relocation of electrical infrastructure (33kV power lines) and communications infrastructure (underground fibreoptic cable) as part of the works involved in this ambitious project.
- Bulk and detailed earthworks for the Australia’s first landbridge, diverting creek through old mining pit
- Screening of 200,000m3 material for
- Installation of 50,000m2 of Geofabric and Geosythetic Clay liner
- Placement of scour material for low and high flow channel
- Cut and fill to create diversion channels and drainage protection rip rap
